Basketball Double-Header at Swanville - Lady Jaguars Set New B-B-E Girls Team Scoring Record at 91 Points
Saturday afternoon at the Swanville High School, the Lady Jaguars basketball team faced a struggling 0-10 Bulldogs team and raced out to a 48-10 halftime lead. In the second half, even while employing the most liberal of subbing rotations, with B-squad members running the final six minutes, the Lady Jaguars hit a B-B-E girls record 91 points, the final two points on freshmen center Rachel Anderson's free throws.
In the second game against a 7-2 Bulldogs team, the Jaguars basketball team had a considerably tougher outing, falling by a 66-50 score. They played much better than their dismal night before at Kimball and will need to keep improving as a brutal schedule picks up beginning next week.
In other games involving Central Minnesota Conference teams:
Boys Basketball:
Watertown-Mayer 66, @ Eden Valley-Watkins 56 (EV-W is 5-1, W-M is 8-1)
Pierz (7-1) 73, @ Foley (9-2) 71
Girls Basketball:
Pierz (9-2) 50, @ Foley (2-9) 38
The Lady Jaguars host Eden Valley-Watkins on Tuesday at the elementary school in the biggest conference game on their schedule. They sit in a tie with the Eagles at 2-1 for second place in the CMC. Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted is currently alone at the top with a 3-0 CMC record. Pierz and Rockford are the two other CMC teams with a 2-1 conference record. Holdingford is 1-2, and Kimball and Maple Lake are both 0-3 in the CMC. Maple Lake narrowly lost to HL-W-W last week 53-46, showing the incredible parity in the league unlike any season in recent memory.
