The Jaguars Fastpitch is now 13-5 on the season after this enjoyable win over the Prairie Conference Champions. They led 6-0 after three innings, and took an 8-0 lead after four innings. The Silverstreaks made a late rally but fell short as the 7th inning came to a close. One noteable, both teams had 8th grade pitchers in the circle through all 7 innings. Osakis finishes 12-4.
The Jaguars will face CMC rival and nemesis Maple Lake on Thursday night at 5:00 in the sub-section championship. It will be a 3-seed vs. 1-seed matchup. The game will be held at the Minnewaska Area fastpitch complex. Maple Lake is 19-1. I am only guessing here, but I would expect the game to be on 107.1 Smooth Magic FM in Glenwood.
The #1-seeded Jaguars Baseball team will take a 14-4 record into Sub-Section 5A-South playoffs, beginning on Friday at 7:00 in Elrosa. It marks the 2nd-best regular season in B-B-E history. They went 15-3 before playoffs in 1995.
At the sub-section championships today at NL-S, lots of excitement was experienced by the Jaguars boys and girls teams. A few noteables... the boys 400-meter relay team advances to Section 5A with their 2nd place performance. Heidi Lensing will advance as the sub-section champion in the Long Jump. Shane Olmscheid advances with a 3rd-place finish in the 110 High Hurdles (also shattering his personal record in that event). Whitney White advances in the Pole Vault, and Austin Jasmer goes in the 3200m Run. I'm not sure what else we had, more will be published in next week's local papers.
