Tuesday night: Jaguars girls basketball hosts Hancock, a non-conference and sub-section opponent. Jaguars boys basketball travels to Maple Lake for their second Central Minnesota Conference game of the season.
Hancock's girls basketball is 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the Pheasant Conference.
Maple Lake's boys basketball is 4-4 overall and 0-0 in the CMC; their game against Holdingford was a tournament game, not counted in the CMC standings.
Thursday night: Two home CMC games are on tap, with the Jaguars boys basketball hosting Rockford and the Jaguars girls basketball hosting Eden Valley-Watkins.
Eden Valley-Watkins girls basketball is 2-7 overall and 1-1 in the CMC.
Friday night: Jaguars Wresting Invitational, beginning at 3:30 at the high school. Teams included are Ottertail Central, MACCRAY, Sauk Centre, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Becker, and Section 5A favorite Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City.
Saturday: Jaguars Danceline performs at the Jefferson High School in Alexandria, with the Jaguars boys basketball traveling to Brandon to face sub-section opponent Brandon-Evansville in a non-conference game. The boys schedule is as follows: 1pm C-team, 2pm B-team, with a 3:30 tip-off scheduled for the varsity team. The Danceline meet begins at 10:30am, with the Jaguars performing in the Class A Jazz Funk at 1:10pm. The Jaguars are third in the order of competition, with their routine to begin at approximately 1:20pm.
This is Alexandria's 12th annual meet. They've had danceline dating back to the 1960s. A few other teams participating are Sartell/St.Stephen, Lakeview of Cottonwood, Aitkin, Crookston, and Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd.
Melrose, which moves up to Class AA this season, dances in the 4pm Class AA division. The Dutchmen have a JV team at 4pm and varsity High Kick at 4:30 - eighth in the lineup, with their actual performance going closer to 5:30pm.
Other notes about some of the Jaguars' opponents this week: Brandon-Evansville's boys basketball team is 0-8 overall and 0-1 in the Little Eight Conference. Their closest loss was on December 22, a 52-49 game against Swanville.
