The whole town of Sauk Centre goes dark - boys basketball and hockey games both suspended
The entire town of Sauk Centre went dark tonight at approximately 8:30pm. Shown are members of the Sauk Centre Fire Department directing traffic at a dead stoplight downtown.
**Update on Saturday morning... Ice accumulations caused a power transmission pole to snap Friday evening, leading to a massive power outage in Sauk Centre. The broken pole was located near Interstate Highway 94 west of the city. Ice also caused traffic problems in and near St. Cloud.
Sauk will be without power until at least midnight tonight. Not fun! Especially if you're burning wood or you have to re-light a pilot on your fuel oil burner.
**It's really really bad out there, folks! The roads are completely iced over, and I doubt the highway crews will be able to treat them fast enough to keep ahead of the ice build-up.
