B-B-E boys basketball story from last week

Junior guard Bennett Weller drained 17 points against Rockford on February 11. He also nailed four three-pointers during the Jaguars' 91-59 win over Ashby last Thursday night.

In a pure shootout at Rockford on February 11, the Jaguars boys basketball team made the most of their lone game of the week by hammering the Rockets in a Central Minnesota Conference clash. With their high-octane offense running at full strength, junior Kevin Kuefler's 28 points led the Jaguars to a 90-76 win.

Last week the Jaguars (18-3, 10-1 CMC) whipped Kimball Area 84-53 and Ashby 91-59.

Their non-conference game at Paynesville Area (4-9 West Central North, 5-12) is re-scheduled for this week Tuesday, February 23. They travel to Pierz on Thursday for a tough game against the a dangerous Pioneers team (5-6 CMC, 5-17).

Another hot night from field goal range fueled the Jaguars to a 48-39 halftime lead, as they shot 57% from the floor (3-of-5 beyond the arc) to help overcome 15-of-30 free throw shooting. Four Jaguars hit double figures in the blowout win, with senior Matt Goodwin having an outstanding all-around game with 14 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 3 blocked shots.

Rockford fell to 5-4 in the CMC with the loss. They are now 6-5 in the CMC and 8-15 overall.

**This week the Jaguars girls basketball team hosts Rockford on Tuesday night in a CMC game. The Rockets currently hold down 2nd place in the CMC at 9-3 (17-7 overall).

On Thursday the Jaguars host Maple Lake, in a game that will be aired on 106.5 FM. The next night, Kimball Area comes to town for the final regular season game.
