Coaches Vos and Richards give Travis a pep talk as he makes his comeback in the second period.
A nice-size group of B-B-E fans and wrestling parents cheered Travis on to the big win.
Travis Winter capped his senior season with a fifth-place finish at the Class A State Wrestling Tournament, winning by fall in 3:44 over Brady Wersinger Benson in the 160-pound division.
Just under a minute into the first period, Travis gave up a takedown to bring a 2-0 deficit. Late in the first period, he earned an escape to bring a 2-1 score going into the second period.
He ultimately got Wersinger on his back on a few different occasions, then stuck him after 3:44 had elapsed.
What a way to finish his outstanding wrestling career at B-B-E!

Some historical updates... A couple days ago I missed that T.J. Kampsen (Class of 1999) made the semi-finals. He finished 6th his senior year, making the semi-finals before falling to the fifth-place bracket with a couple losses.
Also, Mike Felling transferred to Hutchinson and did not graduate in 2002 from B-B-E. He placed 5th as either a freshmen or sophomore for B-B-E, in 1999 or 2000.
His older brother Danny (Class of 1998) placed 5th his senior year, coming back through the wrestlebacks to earn hardware.
So the list of B-B-E Jaguars wrestlers who had semi-final berths in the state tournament is as follows: Brendon Bogart (state champion) and Kermit Hanson (state runner-up), both Class of 1990 - T.J. Kampsen (6th), Mike Felling (5th), Travis Rath (6th), and now Travis Winter (5th).
Look for more updates later today.
