The Jaguars baseball team evened their record at 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the Central Minnesota Conference with a nice win over sub-section rival Holdingford (2-5).
Both teams started underclassmen on the mound. Huskers' starter Ben Schwanberg got a little wild in the early innings, allowing the Jaguars to take a 4-2 lead in the third. The Huskers tied it at 4-4 with a two-run homer by Carl Kasella in the top of the fourth.
Jaguars' starter Brady Weller went all seven innings, giving up nine hits, four walks, and four earned runs to go against three strikeouts.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Jaguars plated four runs to go up 8-4. Weller's two-RBI double in the fourth was a crucial in building the nice lead.
Schwanberg was roughed up by the Jaguars' batters to the tune of nine hits and eight earned runs in just over five innings of work.
Kevin Kuefler led the Jaguars at the plate with a 3-for-4 performance that included a triple, as well as three runs scored.

Action early in the game.
Here's a very rough video clip of senior Leonard Krebs blowing away his competition in one heat of the 200-meter sprint at the Melrose Track and Field Invitational tonight. He ran it in a time of 23.85 seconds, good for 8 team points in the standings. Great job, Leonard!
Krebs is ready for takeoff in the 200-meter dash at Melrose.
More on the track and field meet at Melrose will be posted later on Friday.
In Central Minnesota Conference girls' fastpitch action, the visiting Jaguars fastpitch team was shutout 10-0 in five innings at Holdingford. Ouch.
Holdingford's fastpitch team improves to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the CMC with the win. Early on, they appear to be one of the top teams in Sub-Section 6AA-South. The Jaguars are 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the CMC.
Down at Albion Ridges golf course in Annandale, the Jaguars boys golf team won the Central Minnesota Conference meet (the fourth of the season, hosted by Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted) by a 165-173 stroke margin over runner-up Pierz. Senior Corey Tonn led the Jaguars with a 39, only one stroke off of medalist Alec Raabe of Rockford.
The win will help them get back into the race for the CMC title, but they have a long ways to go after coming in last in Monday's meet at Maple Lake. They are now 34 strokes behind first-place Pierz.
