Both Jaguar boys and girls basketball teams scorch the nets tonight win shootout wins, girls 79-76 vs. Rockford and boys 84-80 at Pierz

The Jaguars girls basketball team shook off a four-game losing streak in the Central Minnesota Conference with a high-scoring 79-76 win over visiting Rockford tonight. Senior post Maggie Gruber went 2-of-2 at the free throw line to ice the game with :03 ticks on the clock. Her free throws made it 79-73, before the Rockets launched a successful three pointer at the final buzzer. In the final half of the first half of the game, the Jaguars trailed 30-22 before going on a 12-0 run to seize control before halftime.
The Jaguars improve to 4-8 overall and 2-4 in the CMC. Rockford is 7-9 overall and 3-3 in the CMC. **A shocker at Kimball tonight, as the host Cubs defeat CMC front-runner and CMC unbeaten Pierz 62-53. Six games into the campaign for the CMC title, the Cubs are actually in the race at 4-2 (along with HL-W-W). Pierz is 5-1 in the league.

At Pierz tonight, the Jaguars boys basketball team is coming home with an 84-80 win. Glad to hear they picked up the "W", as Pierz is always a tough place to play at - no matter how good you are or how down they are. The Jaguars improve to 13-0 overall and 6-0 in the CMC. The 13 wins to start the season ties the 2001-2002 squad for the longest winning streak for B-B-E basketball.

Pierz (5-9 overall) falls into a virtual tie for second place in the CMC at 3-2. Other teams with two CMC losses are Kimball Area, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, and Maple Lake.

While I've got your attention, I can't forget to mention that the Jaguars wrestling team is in action at the NL-S tournament on Friday. The next day, this Saturday, the B-B-E Dazzlers danceline team will compete at the NL-S Invite. More details on that will follow on Friday.
