After jumping out to a commanding 48-17 lead at halftime, the 7th-seeded Jaguars girls basketball team limited Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley to nine second half points in a 77-26 blowout to start the sub-section playoffs. It is their eighth win in a row, tying the school record for consecutive girls basketball wins at B-B-E.
With their win over #10-seed C-G-B, the Jaguars (14-12) now travel to #2 seed Parkers Prairie for quarterfinal action on Thursday, March 3, at 7:00pm. A win that night would send the Jaguars into the sub-section semifinals, and their game would be at 7:30pm this Saturday (Mar. 5) at the University of Minnesota-Morris P.E. Center on Jim Gremmels Court.
The sub-section championship is next Tuesday at 8pm back at UMM.
The Panthers are the #2 seed, with a 22-3 overall record. Since starting the season 18-0, the Panthers have gone 4-3 in the final seven games of their regular season. They are the defending sub-section and Section 6A champions, bringing back a core group of players from a team that took third place in last year's Class A state tournament.
Ashley Kirckof's three pointer made it 38-12 with just over three minutes left in the first half in tonight's playoff opening win.
