Jaguar matmen stumble early in playoff opener before rallying to post a huge win at Osakis - Boys' basketball wins, Girls' basketball falls in OT

Members of the Jaguar wrestling team welcome Tyler Tensen back to the huddle after he won by pin (1:42) at 120 pounds against Osakis tonight...
With one match complete, the Jaguars wrestling team trails 3-0 against Osakis in the Section 5A playoff opener.

Tyler Tensen got things going for B-B-E at 120 pounds, when he earned a first-period pin in a time of 1:42. Osakis 7, B-B-E 6.

Ross Rath is in a tight match at 126 pounds now. With a tough ending, Rath went on to lose by injury default in the second period. Osakis 13, B-B-E 6.
**The Jaguar wrestlers will advance to the semifinal round of Section 5A. They hold a commanding lead with one match remaining, ahead 46-25. Jared Steffensen's match at heavyweight was underway when I left. They will compete against #1-seeded Kimball Area at Minnewaska Area high school on Friday night. One other note, Patrick Rooney earned win number 100 of his wrestling career with a 1st-period pin tonight. He's a junior.

Up at Ashby, the Jaguars girls' basketball team is tied at 6-6 in the opening minutes against the Arrows. B-B-E trailed 31-23 at the break, though. Final: Ashby 63, B-B-E 58 OT. The Arrows improve to 7-13 overall.

**Update from Rockford...the Jaguars boys' basketball team built a 46-14 halftime lead, then went up 57-22 with about 6 minutes gone in the second half before they fell asleep at the wheel.

With around 6 minutes left, the Jaguars' lead shrunk to 63-42. Final: B-B-E 67, Rockford 58.
