The B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team improved to 8-0 tonight with a 75-53 win at Minnewaska Area. They led 38-26 at halftime.

In the first half, B-B-E led 7-2 with three minutes gone after Trey Heinsius earned his first points by grabbing a loose ball near the bucket and turning around for a quick jumper. They proceeded to go up 11-2 and then 13-5 with 13:15 left. The Lakers played from around 10 points or more down the rest of the way to the halftime buzzer.

With a little over 4 minutes left, Brian Goodwin had a steal and quick layup to make it 28-18 Jaguars. A jumper in the lane by Billy Borgerding with 30 seconds left gave the Jaguars a 12-point lead at 36-24, and both teams hit running layups in the final 10 seconds for the halftime score. In the second half, the Jaguars had a 53-35 lead with just over 10 minutes left.

B-B-E, who out-rebounded the smaller Lakers by a 49-36 margin, heads into the Christmas break averaging 70.0 points per game, while giving up 48.8 points defensively.

Action from the second half tonight at Minnewaska Area high school...

The B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team beat Eden Valley-Watkins 40-26 to move to 5-0 in dual meets. They lost their second dual of the night to Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City in their first loss of the season.

At Litchfield, in a gymnasium where you couldn't find a place to sit, the Melrose Area Dutchmen boys' basketball team fought into overtime against the former top-ranked Dragons but lost in overtime. I wasn't certain on the final score - BOB FM didn't come in that well while I was driving home along the shores of Lake Minnewaska - but I think Kirby Hemmesch said Litchfield 59, Melrose 55. (It was 65-59)

At Upsala, the Cardinals shredded Browerville 85-59 in a battle of Top-10 ranked Class A boys' basketball teams.
