Volleyball takes Rockford

The Jaguars during a game three timeout on Tuesday night at NL-S.

In their weekly Central Minnesota Conference match tonight, the Jaguars volleyball team defeated host Rockford Area 25-16. Game two went quickly in favor of the Jaguars with a 25-14 win.

Game three went back-and-forth, but the Jaguars prevailed 26-24 to head back up Highway 55 with a sweep. They led 15-14, trailed 20-18 and then pulled out the extra-points win to improve to 9-3 overall and 4-0 in the Central Minnesota Conference. All three squads (varsity, JV and C) won tonight. Rockford Area falls to 6-10 overall and 1-3 in the CMC.

Up next: the Willmar Cardinal Classic volleyball tournament, which the Jaguars have competed in every year since 1997. It's loaded with talented teams, including NL-S who wants badly to return the favor to the Jaguars...action runs from morning through the afternoon in the 7-team affair.

...and then: a very good MACCRAY team that plays in the brutally tough Camden Conference in a home match next Monday night. It is also Parents Night, a fun night to take in every season. The Wolverines are 7-4 overall and 5-3 in the Camden North Conference. Their conference losses have been to state-ranked Minneota, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton and now Renville County West as of tonight. RCW was 5-8-1 overall before tagging the Wolverines with a 3-1 loss.

While volleyball has had the lime light in the past few days, I made a huge mistake by forgetting to post a score for the Jaguars girls' tennis team. They lost on Tuesday to a solid MACCRAY team 5-2. Next they travel to Annandale next Monday for a Section 5A match up with the Cardinals (4-13, 2-6 Wright County Conference).

Soon thoughts of Friday Night Lights will be on my mind, and it'll be next to impossible to focus on anything else!!!
