The numbers are in

We have such terrific fan support! Shown are a few of the hundreds of dedicated fans who watched yesterday's Mud Bowl at the high school stadium.

The Jaguars football team rushed for 108 yards and passed for 194 more yesterday against a very stout Pierz defense.

The Pioneers rushed for 173 yards but were held to only 24 passing yards on four completions with seven attempts. One of those seven pass attempts resulted in a Brian Goodwin interception with 4:06 left in the game and the game tied 13-13.

Pierz finished as being the most effective team this year to hold B-B-E's impressive ground attack in check. The Jaguars averaged only 2.84 yards per carry, but Goodwin passed 16 times and connected with his receivers on 12 of them. Stuff the run, and the air game will make you pay.

Here's a few scenes from the post-game huddle:

Another key number was the turnover margin. The Jaguars won that battle two-to-one. Both teams gave up interceptions, but the Jaguars were the only one to recover a fumble by the other team.
