Girls' basketball goes toe-to-toe with ranked Mainstreeters

With ice in her veins, Kinlee Swanson knocked down two bonus free throws with 39.8 seconds left for a 55-55 tie.

Here's a glimpse of the excited Jaguars during a timeout in the final minute tonight.

A three-pointer by Ali Peterson with 15 seconds left gave Sauk Centre a 58-55 lead. The Mainstreeters padded a 58-57 lead with two late free throws with 1.5 seconds left and held on for a wild win over the Jaguars girls' basketball team tonight.

Peterson hit a three-pointer with 1:57 left to put her team up 53-49, but the Jaguars knotted it up with shots from Megan Weller and Hailey Braegelman with just over a minute to go.

With 10:40 left, the Jaguars fell behind 43-36 but rallied to take the lead at 47-46 on a bucket by Braegelman with 4:48 left.

The Jaguars take a 10-10 record to Eden Valley-Watkins on Thursday night. That game will be on The Train, as will tomorrow's home boys' basketball game against Maple Lake.

Sauk Centre is 13-4 and heads to Melrose Area tomorrow for a second straight border battle.
