Jaguar wrestlers win on criteria

It very well could be the closest wrestling win in B-B-E history.

On Parents Night against Rockford Area, the Jaguars wrestling team (5-11) clipped the Rockford Rockets 40-39 in a Central Minnesota Conference dual meet that went to the third criteria after the heavyweight match ended with the team scored tied at 39-39.

The third criteria is based on unsportsmanlike penalties awarded in the match. In a nutshell, Rockford had one wrestler penalized by an unsportsmanlike call, while none of B-B-E's wrestlers got that penalty. Therefore, based on that criteria, the Jaguars were awarded one team point at the conclusion of the dual.

According to how the meet played out and what the rule book said, neither the 4th and 5th criteria wouldn't have determined a winner. Then we get all the way to the 6th criteria.

The sixth criteria is the number of wins recorded via technical fall (a 15-point or greater margin), and the Jaguars had none compared to one for Rockford. Had that Rockford wrestler in question not get penalized with the unsportsmanlike call, his Rockets team would've made the 78-mile trip home as winners.
