The end of the first half on Thursday:
I'm reading more on Rushford-Peterson. I see they lost the last 2 years in the state semifinals, so this is definitely an exciting time for their school to make it to the finals. Maranatha Christian, who beat them yesterday, knocked R-P into the consolation bracket in last year's semifinal round.
According to the Rochester Post Bulletin, R-P is playing in the state tournament for the 13th time as a co-op. Vix guided Rushford to a Class A state title in 1989 and R-P to a state crown in 2006, after posting a runner-up finish in 2005. Rushford and Peterson each advanced to state once on their own before combining.
In the semis yesterday, R-P's 6'4" Austin O'Hare (senior forward, leading scorer with 14 points) broke a 14-14 tie with a paint shot with 85 seconds left in the game. The Trojans missed the front end of one-and-one bonus shots in the last 30 seconds, but their defense was solid enough to hold on for the win.
R-P has 7 seniors on the roster.
