Big, big athletic news

Between 1999 and 2013, the Jaguars won just two football games at Rockford. Above, the scoreboard shows the Jaguars as winners last fall. They kept the Rockets from scoring on 9 of their 10 possessions.

James Kuefler pats Brian Goodwin on the back after Goodwin ran in a 7-yard touchdown with 1:50 left in the game at Rockford on September 27, 2013. The Jaguars led 22-7 at that point, with that touchdown salting away the win.

This is big!

The 2014-2015 sports seasons will mark the final year that Rockford Area will compete as a member in the Central Minnesota Conference. They've been accepted into the Wright County Conference beginning in the fall of 2015.

Replacing Rockford Area will be Paynesville Area, who will leave the West Central Conference next summer. The Bulldogs have been in the WCC since the 1970s after they exited the now-defunct Central Gopher Conference.

I've said this for years now: "Keep calm and stay in the CMC" since my "Dairy Star Conference" idea fizzled back in 2009. It was just a matter of time before Rockford Area decided to make the switch to a bigger conference. How cool is this to trade a trip to Rockford with a trip to Paynesville for conference events! VERY COOL.
