What an ending!

Jordan Wosmek's game-winning free throw drops through the cylinder tonight!

Winning! A glimpse of the post-game huddle right after the final buzzer sounded.

That was an ending for the ages!

Down 47-44 in the closing minute against Kimball, the B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team scored the last five points of the game in the final 7.1 seconds to win 49-47. With 7.1 seconds left, Tanner Heinsius canned a floating three-point shot, and with 2.1 seconds left, Jordan Wosmek knocked down two free throws to bust up the tie and win the game.

With 3:37 to go, the Cubs pulled ahead 45-39 and looked like they were going to get the lead to double digits. The Jaguars had other ideas and proceeded to hold the Cubs to just two points and no field goals in the final minutes. With 13 seconds left, Jarred Merchant went two-for-two at the free throw line to put the Cubs up 47-44.
Shown is an example of what went right for the Jaguars against the Cubs. The Jaguar defense was hustling and following their assignments and keeping them in the game when the offense struggled at times.

According to my unofficial notes, the Cubs went 5-for-10 at the free throw line in the second half and were 12-for-21 at the free throw line for the game. The Cubs officially went 13-for-24 from the free throw line (54 percent), while the Jaguars were 11-for-18 (62 percent...not much better!).

The halftime score was Kimball Area 24, B-B-E 23.

Here's video from the first half with Jacob Tensen's three-pointer breaking up an 18-18 tie:

It was Kimball Area's first loss after a 2-0 start to the season. The Cubs expect to compete for the Sub-Section 5A-South title next March.

Next is a very tough road game at Howard Lake on Tuesday. The HL-W-W Lakers went to Holdingford tonight and destroyed the Huskers in a 77-51 win.

It was great to see the B-B-E Broadcasting team set up camp and cover the game through the school website. Play-by-play coverage was generously provided by Smooth Magic 107 FM of Glenwood. It was the first game by Smooth Magic's new sports broadcaster, Brady Erdmann. He is taking the reigns at KMGK from D-Mac, who moved up to KXRA in Alexandria a couple weeks ago.

**And here's the ending! The last 90 seconds took about 10 minutes of real time:
