5th grade champions!
The elementary 5th grade boys' basketball Jaguars took first place at the Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart tournament on Saturday with a 3-0 record. Good job!
I was checking over the girls' basketball conference standings to see how Eden Valley-Watkins came out in their Friday night game with Kimball. The Eagles pounded the Cubs into the floor at Kimball with a 60-28 win. They remain tied for first place with our Jaguars in the Central Minnesota Conference standings at 9-1. For our Jaguars, it's great to note that no girls' basketball team has ever been 9-1 in a conference schedule. The closest a team has gotten to a 9-1 start was the 1989-90 team that finished 10-2 (second) in the West Central South Conference under head coach Bobby Cassidy.
As neat as it is to be 9-1, they still need to seal the deal! That means winning a tough road game at Howard Lake next week and then at home against EV-W the following week (Tuesday, Feb. 17).
