Another great-looking Fine Arts trophy for the high school trophy cases! |
Prior to the awards ceremony, speech team members regroup with a few "fans" including faithful bus driver extraordinaire and loyal-as-anyone-to-the-program Neil Meierhofer. |
Outstanding! The B-B-E speech team placed second out of eight teams tonight. Even cooler: nine of our 21 speechers placed first or second! That's incredible. Also incredible: 18 of BBE's 21 speechers were award-winners by placing sixth or better. The sixth-place or better finish earned those 18 speechers an automatic trip to the Section 5A meet in Ogilvie on April 11.
As a team, the B-B-E speech team beat bigger schools such aas Albany, Paynesville, Holdingford and Benson. Out of the eight schools in the meet, B-B-E was the second-smallest school.
First-place Melrose had 27 entries in the meet and 15 award-winners. Just two of their 15 award-winners took first place. Still, because of an odd way of scoring the meet, they were team champions by having more entries overall.
Here's video showing quite a few of the B-B-E speech team award-winners getting their medals:
Overall it was a fabulous night for our rockstar speech program!
