NL-S tournament

Six members of the B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team will compete for individual titles tonight at the 11-team New London-Spicer tournament. They are Blaine Fischer, Canon Swanson, Tyler Bents, Adam Jaeger, Isaiah Gilbert and Trevor Kern.

In the varsity team standings, before the consolation round was tallied, the Jaguars are in first place with 88 team points. New York Mills is in second place with 74.5 points. Hibbing is in third place with 70.5 points.

*Update: the first championship match started at 20:45. The Jaguars have 129 team points to remain in first place ahead of NYM, who has 115.5 points. Hibbing is in third with 101 points.

Also, at Paynesville, the B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team won 59-51 for their second win in a row. Parker Schwinghammer had an outstanding night with 25 points on 11-of-16 field goal shooting, five rebounds and four steals. As a team, the Jaguars shot a very hot 55 percent from the floor. B-B-E (5-9, 2-3 Central Minnesota Conference) has a huge Sub-Section 5A-South game coming on Monday on the home court, when Swanville comes to town. The Bulldogs (6-5, 4-2 Prairie Conference) are the second-ranked team in the sub-section, while the Jaguars sit in the fourth-place spot. A win for the Jaguars would be HUGE! Let's get a big crowd to cheer them on!

Here's video from Tyler Bents' match in the 138-pound finals, when he faced Sam Stageberg of NL-S:
