Little Dipper playoffs

The Elrosa Saints Little Dipper baseball team defeated Freeport 12-4 in the Stearns County League playoff opener on Sunday night. They advance to face Lake Henry in the SCL's little league-level semifinal round. The next game is Sunday, July 22 at 6:30 p.m. in Elrosa.

Stearns County League results:
New Munich defeated visiting Spring Hill 9-1 on Sunday. The Chargers host St. Martin on Sunday, July 22 in their regular season finale; they are in a battle with Meire Grove for the No. 3 seed to Region 15C from the SCL-North division. The Grovers beat visiting Greenwald 4-2 on Sunday. In the SCL-South on Sunday, Richmond (9-2) held onto first place with an 11-7 win over St. Martin. Lake Henry invaded third-place Roscoe and picked up an 8-3 win to hold onto second place.

County Line League
Norway Lake-Sunburg lost 6-2 to Starbuck on Sunday after getting out-hit 15 to seven. The game was tied 2-2 before the Stars scored four runs in the seventh inning.

Don't forget! The B-B-E school board will meet in regular session on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. at the elementary school library.

Also! Later in the week, the Pope County Fair in Glenwood will run from Wednesday to Saturday. They have large advertisements in my newspaper (July 5, 12, 19 issues) outlining their feature events and the full schedule. It's my job to help promote their very nice, free fair and steer the public to take in all they have to offer.

Also! It's never too early to plan ahead for the Region 15C amateur baseball tournament. This year all games - evening and day time - are held in Farming, as their stadium lights are now installed. The first region game is Friday, August 3, and the tournament wraps up on Sunday, August 12.

I have much to report on from the now-completed Bonanza Valley Days celebration in Brooten. I will put 99 percent of that into my upcoming Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper issue. I have approximately 48 hours to get it completed, which means I have little or no time to be providing Internet updates. I don't know how many pages it will be...but "it will be big!" If you are a subscriber, you will be rewarded with a great July 19 issue.

I wish more newspapers could put a little more swagger into their step. Part of me wants to shout at other newspaper publishers and say, "Come on! This is a time to display confidence in your product!!!!"

"Go big or go home!"
