Marquee win

The B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team just knocked off No. 5-ranked Goodhue! They won by a 46-44 final score. The Wildcats are the real deal! As a team, the Jaguars shot a red-hot 55 percent from the floor and nailed five of eight three-point shots. They needed every single field goal, plus 11 of 18 free throws made, to overcome Goodhue's attack. Five Jaguars scored eight or more points with Jenna Dingmann leading the way (11 points, eight rebounds).

The Wildcats fall to 10-2 overall while seeing a nine-game winning streak end.

This is a huge win for our Jaguars! They take a 5-2 record into January. Next will be Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted (5-6, 2-0) on January 3 in a home contest. B-B-E is seeking their first conference win in three tries.

At Rogers, the B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team is holding in first place with the finals yet to come in a 19-team invitational! Numerous Jaguars will be going for first place in their respective brackets.

More to come after 6 p.m.

Update!! The Jaguars repeated as champions at the Rogers "Holiday Matness" tournament. They amassed 180 team points to defeat host Rogers, who had 159 points. In third place was a very good Becker team with 144 points. Osseo was fourth (139 points), and Elk River took fifth (115 points).

Canon Swanson (126), Tyler Bents (145) and Dylan Kampsen (152) all took first place. Many other Jaguars also took fifth place or better.

Next: the wrestlers gear up for a stacked Jaguar Invitational at the B-B-E high school on Friday, January 4. The January 3 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice will have a light preview of the top teams coming to town.

More to follow on Saturday morning. Stay warm and stay safe out there tonight!!
