Just saw this: Canon Swanson won his semifinal match at the Big Bear tournament today at Cass Lake-Bena high school. The score was by an 8-2 decision. Swanson faces senior Jake Andres of Pierz for the 126-pound championship.
At 145 pounds, Tyler Bents won his semifinal match by an 18-3 tech. fall (4:37)!
At 132 pounds, Tyler Jensen lost his semifinal match by a 7-2 decision; but in consolations, he won a 3-1 decision to advance to the third-place match (yet to be wrestled).
At 106 pounds in his consolation bracket, Walker Bents won a 15-2 major decision, a 7-3 decision and then a 5-2 decision to get into the third-place match. Walker then won that match by injury default.
At 120 pounds, Blaine Fischer went 1-1 in the consolation bracket, but he will wrestle for seventh place tonight.
All in all, the B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team has had a terrific showing in the Northland! They currently sit in a tie for sixth place with 103 points out of 39 teams in the tournament. Minnewaska Area is holding at fourth place with 122 points. LP-GE/Browerville is in eighth place with 99.5 points.
**Update: the Jaguars had two champions! Canon Swanson and Tyler Bents both won their brackets. Very impressive!!!
