The B-B-E Jaguars volleyball team handed Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta their only loss of the day in Alexandria yesterday for the Cardinal Classic invitational. The Jaguars beat the MA/CA Tigers 15-9 in a deciding third set to open the tournament.
The Jaguars then split in their next two matches against Big Lake and Alexandria. They fell to the host Cardinals 15-12 in a very tight third set loss after beating the Hornets in straight sets. Alexandria (14-10) is currently tied for second place at 8-2 with Brainerd in the tough Class 3A Central Lakes Conference. Sartell-St. Stephen (17-1) is in first place in the CLC at 9-0. Willmar (10-5) is in fourth place at 6-3. Alexandria went 3-1 in the Cardinal Classic with their lone loss being a 2-1 set back against MA/CA. The Cardinals also beat Big Lake and Mounds View.
B-B-E (13-7) finished the invitational with a match against Rocori. Results have not been reported yet. Next: a home match on Tuesday, October 8 against Long Prairie-Grey Eagle. Looming large on the horizon is a tough road match at Royalton on Thursday night as the Jaguars attempt to stay in the hunt for a share of the Central Minnesota Conference title. Royalton (20-1-2) is currently riding a 16-match winning streak. Their lone loss was by a 2-0 margin to Pipestone Area (10-11, 2-3) in their opening match of the Sauk Rapids-Rice invitational on September 7.
