More to post later tonight...for now, check out what's posted at the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper website: https://bit.ly/2JJ59Kq.
Later tonight we'll feature a short video interview of a super excited head coach Steve Waddell!
*And here's that interview...one where I did entirely too much talking, not really letting the English teacher and coach get a word in. Sheesh!!!! I'll do better on Saturday night.
In football news from tonight's area games...
Browerville won the Section 4A football title after defeating Mayer Lutheran 44-21 tonight at St. John's University. It was a thoroughly impressive win by the Tigers, who fell behind 21-20 early in the third quarter and then posted 24 unanswered points in a runaway win. The Tigers are 10-1 overall, and their only loss was in Murdock in Week Three to Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg by a narrow 14-13 margin. Browerville tied Upsala/Swanville Area for the Sub-District III title in the Midstate District.
Albany led first in their Section 6AAA title game with Pierz, but the Pioneers rolled from there and punched another ticket to state with a 42-22 win.
In Section 5AA in another game played at St. John's University tonight, Paynesville Area punched a ticket to state with a 28-21 win over neighboring rival Eden Valley-Watkins.
I also saw that Hancock advanced to state for the first time since 1990 with a win over Brandon-Evansville. That game had a 12:30 p.m. kickoff from the FargoDome. The final score was 24-16.
