Saturday action: wrestling and basketball

Blaine has opened up a sizable lead on Day Two of the Rogers Holiday Madness tournament. Early in the afternoon, Blaine has 183.5 team points. Princeton has a small lead over our B-B-E Jaguars wresting team with 157 points. The Jaguars have 152 points, with a huge lead over fourth-place Dover-Eyota (111.5 points).

Later tonight, the B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team tips off at 6:15 p.m. in the Big Red Gym of Willmar senior high school against MACCRAY. The game will be aired on 106.5 FM The Train.

Update from Rogers:  after briefly pulling into second place, the Jaguars now trail second-place Princeton by a 179 to 170-point margin. Way out in front is Blaine with 211.5 points.

*Another update:  Canon Swanson claimed the 145-pound title at Rogers with a 10-2 major decision win in the championship over fellow senior Solomon Lankow (17-3) of Park high school of Cottage Grove. Swanson is now 23-0 on the season.

As a team, the Jaguars settled for third place at Rogers with 175 points. In second was Princeton with 185 points. Blaine won the team title with 224.5 points. In fourth place was Dover-Eyota with 149.5 points. Cambridge-Isanti took fifth with 122 points.

**Basketball update: the Jaguars trail 64-53 to MACCRAY with 6:30 left in the game. The Wolverines led 35-31 at halftime.

With 2:30 left in the game, MACCRAY has a 74-63 lead.

*Final score: MACCRAY 81, B-B-E 72. The Jaguars are 2-6 overall but have really ramped things up in these past few games.
