Section runners-up

The B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team finished as Section 5A runners-up after going 1-1 in the Final Four last night at Minnewaska Area. They finish the team portion of the season with a 20-4 record, tying the record for most overall wins in a season (set in 2017-2018).

In the semifinals against No. 3-ranked Minnewaska Area, the Jaguars defeated the Lakers 38-23. The match was decided quite early, after Dylan Kampsen earned an 11-2 major decision at the 160-pound class over Ryan VanLuik. The Lakers finished 24-7 this season.

In the Section 5A finals, the Jaguars lost 33-18 to No. 1-ranked Long Prairie-Grey Eagle/Browerville, the odds-on favorite to win the Class 1A state title for the second straight year. The Wolves are 31-3 overall and advance to state for the third straight season. They placed fourth at state in 2017.

B-B-E competed in their first wrestling section final since 2017 and fifth overall in school history. They also advanced to the section finals in 1998, 1999, 2015.
