Shown is the Class of 2015 ready to toss their graduation caps in the air on June 1, 2015 at the B-B-E high school. |
In the middle of what's a very busy weekend, I will add more content to this blog post as Jaguar Country mourns the loss of B-B-E Class of 2015 and three-sport student-athlete Josey Tensen. If you click on the following short link, you'll be re-directed to the blog post from his sophomore year when he earned a trip to the Class 1A state tournament = https://bit.ly/2NHEjHu.
- Below, a terribly exciting video from February 15, 2013 at the B-B-E high school, which was the site of the much-anticipated Section 5A Final Four round. Kaleb Voss is shown winning by pin (5:40) against No. 9-ranked Kimball Area in the 106-pound match. Josey Tensen then takes the mat right after Voss heads back to the huddle.
Josey was a sophomore that year. He lost his 113-pound match against Kimball by a 13-1 major decision.
Take special note in the video of coaches Chuck Marks and BJ Friedrichs in the background on the side of the circle. That gym was rocking!!!!!!
Below is the story I wrote on that match for the Sauk Centre Herald the following week:
Jaguar wrestlers suffer close loss in section semis
by Randy Olson
Although a section final wrestling berth wasn't meant to be, the Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Jaguars went down to defeat giving a furious fight.
Against ninth-ranked Kimball Area, two-time defending Section 5A champion and Class 1A state-runner-up in 2012, the Jaguars wrestling team gave their best performance of the season by holding a lead through the majority of the match Friday night.
Their late 27-25 lead could not hold up over the last three matches, however, as state-ranked Tim Konz sealed a 35-27 win for the Cubs with a third-period pin at heavyweight.
The Jaguars finish 14-5 overall, marking their best season since they won 16 matches in the 2001-2002 season under head coach Chuck Marks in his final season guiding the program.
Led by Patrick Rooney's undefeated 32-0 record, a total of five Jaguars hold 20 or more wins heading into this weekend's section individual tournament. The other four include Josey Tensen, Tyler Tensen, Austin Jaeger and Alex Schramel.

Here's video featuring Josey during his freshmen season. This was at the season-opening Jaguar Invitational at the B-B-E high school on Friday, December 2, 2011. I haven't dug up any notes on this yet.
*Added Saturday night...this is another video from that December night in 2011. You can see Tyler Tensen on the left and then Josey Tensen on the right. Right around the 39-second mark, you can briefly see the late Coach Vos as he was coaching Josey. During the final seconds of the video, you can hear Coach Vos shouting instructions and encouragement at Josey:
I remember the Class of 2015 as a very close-knit class. That's a fair statement about all graduating classes of B-B-E. However, the kids in Josey's class were exceptional. They were unique, strong-willed and extremely valuable to the student body of B-B-E as they went up the ranks of grade levels. If you are in the Class of 2015, hold your head high as we remember your fallen classmate.
**Saturday afternoon update: a Venmo account has been set up for the Tensen family to help offset the high cost of bringing them back home from Nebraska, as well as funeral costs. Once I get details I will post them. **Here's what I found out: you use the handle @TimSuzyTensen on the Venmo app to donate. I'm going to do that tonight and then report back on how it goes. NOTE: you do not have to add in the last four digits of Suzy's phone number to verify. There's a way to get around that (I've been told).
Click here (short link) to see a web article on Josey with some family-related information at the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper website: https://bit.ly/3j1Cn8p. I also added a few notes on Remington, who was a graduate of Hutchinson high school in 2016.
I looked at the stats counter for this blog, and this blog has surpassed 1,800 views early in the evening!
