Last night, the B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team suffered just their third loss of the season at Sauk Centre. The Mainstreeters won 52-50 after leading 23-17 at halftime. Sauk Centre, improving to 4-5, had led by as many as 15 points in the second half. B-B-E closed it to 49-49 in the final two minutes.
Next: the boys' basketball team (7-3) travels to Maple Lake (3-7, 3-5) on Thursday this week.
On the home court last night, the B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team made it nine straight when they defeated visiting Royalton 50-25. Their 9-0 record is the best in school history to start a girls' basketball season. The best start came in the 1996-1997 season when they went 5-0 before taking their first loss.
Against Royalton, the girls' basketball team had a very sluggish start and actually trailed 4-2 about five minutes into the game. The Jaguars rallied over the home stretch of the first half and led 19-8 at halftime.
Next: the girls' basketball team (7-3) travels to top-ranked Minneota (8-0, 8-0) on Saturday, February 20 for a 1 p.m. game. The C-squad tips off at 10:30 a.m., while the JV team tips off at 11:45 a.m. at Minneota high school. The varsity game will be aired on Smooth Magic 107 FM of Glenwood. (Thanks, Brady!)
Complete game recaps from both teams are published in this week's Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper.
