The Owls took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, and the Jaguars got one run back in the top of the third. They tied it at 2-2 in the top of the sixth, and the 2-2 score stood up through the 11th inning.
B-B-E posted three runs in the top of the 11th and held the Owls scoreless in the bottom of the frame to win the game.
In the 11th, Tanner Shelton hit a leadoff single and advanced on back-to-back fielder's choice at bats by Luke Dingmann and Wyatt Steffensen. Shelton and Dingmann then both scored on an error. Will VanBeck hit a single, and Steffensen then scored the last run when Easton Hagen hit a ground ball to the pitcher. Peyton Winter then walked, but Hancock got a strikeout and another ground ball to leave two stranded.
Will VanBeck earned the win in four innings of relief. He surrendered just one hit, no walks and fired seven strikeouts. Peyton Winter started and went three innings, and Wyatt Steffensen pitched four innings.
B-B-E out-hit the Owls by a 13-to-5 margin. Earning doubles were Luke Dingmann, Will VanBeck and Andrew Weller. B-B-E had three errors, and Hancock had two.
At Lake Henry yesterday, the Elrosa Saints amateur baseball team lost 5-3. Next for the Saints is the Omann Insurance tournament in Sartell on June 5 and June 6.
