Make tracks to Sauk Centre on Friday, January 28
A boys' and girls' basketball doubleheader is next week on Friday, January 28 at Sauk Centre high school.
Action begins at 4:30 p.m. with four games in play at four gymnasiums: the C- and JV-squad girls' basketball and the C- and JV-squad boys' basketball teams.
The varsity girls' basketball game is set for 5:45 p.m. in the main SCHS gymnasium. The boys' basketball varsity game will follow at 7:30 p.m.
Both varsity games will be broadcast on Smooth Magic 107 FM of Glenwood and 106.5 FM The Train of Norway Lake-Sunburg.
Here's a huge shout out to the Sauk Centre school board, who recently voted down forced masking of their school children by a 5-2 margin. Wise comments were provided by Brooten high school Class of 1987 graduate Brad Kirckof, who is their school board chairman. He shot down comments from fellow school board member Margy Umhoefer. Her genius comments said that because taxpayers supported the sacrifice of paying extra taxes in last fall's positive vote for a school referendum, therefore school children should have no problem chipping in their own level of sacrifice of adhering to forced masking in school. Chairman Kirckof pointed out that taxpayers had months and months of opportunities to provide their input on the referendum before an actual public vote last November. With forced masking of school children, parents had virtually no warning or input for the impending vote at the school board meeting. It was a complete non-starter of a comparison. Another smart-aleck school board member (John Drevlow) provided his two cents, which spoke volumes for the arrogance of his position. He said that his son had no problem wearing a mask "90 percent" of the time while in school, therefore all school children should do the same. I can't even begin with these people...my head hurts...
