Let's shift gears! To basketball Section FINALS!
The Section 5A championship game is tonight at 7 p.m. at St. John's University. Our No. 10-ranked B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team faces Barnum for a state tournament berth! This one is huge! The Bombers are 25-4 overall. Barnum was 5-1 (second) in the Polar League-Big standings behind Class 2A Esko. They have an excellent defensive scoring average of 43.1 points per game, while on offense they average about 63 points per game.
The game will be broadcast on both 106.5 FM The Train of Norway Lake-Sunburg and also Smooth Magic 107 FM of Glenwood. Thanks, Brady and Bill!

**Boys' basketball news...
Tomorrow's sub-section semifinal game against Hancock has been postponed to Monday, March 13. That's all I know right now.
More to come with game updates after 7 o'clock. UPDATE: tip-off should take place at about 19:01. The pre-game drill timer will drop to zero at 18:55.
GAME UPDATES...
Early the Jaguars trailed 6-3 with 2 minutes played.
With 9:58 left in the first half...the Jaguars hold a 21-12 lead after Adley Hagen canned a wide open eight-footer.
Later in the half, Brooklyn Fischer's cleanup shot in the paint with 6:32 left gave the Jaguars a 29-16 lead. Barnum then scored five unanswered points across a span of 3 minutes of the game on two interior field goals plus one free throw. With 3:51 to go, the lead was 29-21...then with 3:02 left, Abby Berge's layup gave the Jaguars a 32-21 lead, and they were back on the run!
HALFTIME: B-B-E 42, Barnum 23. The Jaguars have done a terrific job of limiting Barnum on their offensive rebounds. This tenacious rebounding has been key to their wide halftime lead. Halftime scoring: Abby Berge 12, Brooklyn Fischer 12, Tiyana Schwinghammer 9, Bree Thieschafer 4, Anna Jaeger 3, Adley Hagen 2. I may not get another updated posted until later in the second half...my laptop battery is getting low and I need to get a reel of pictures!!!
SECOND HALF updates and a final score in a NEW blog post. As of 9 p.m. tonight, this blog post is a wrap.
THANK YOU to our basketball playoff sponsors for tonight! Coop's Corner of Belgrade and Bonanza Valley State Bank of Brooten!
