Baseball splits with Huskers (VIDEO)
In St. Cloud today at Joe Faber Field for a Central Minnesota Conference doubleheader, the B-B-E Jaguars baseball team won the opener but lost the second game as they move to 5-2 in the standings.
In game one, the Jaguars defeated Holdingford 10-4 behind a complete-game pitching effort by Ethan Mueller, who spun a three-hitter with seven strikeouts. The Jaguars tallied 10 hits, and seven of their runs were earned off of three Huskers pitchers.
In game two, the Jaguars suffered heartbreak when the Huskers scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth for a 9-8 walk-off win. B-B-E had scored 3 runs in the top of the frame to take an 8-5 lead. The Jaguars out-hit the Huskers 11 to 10, but the Huskers overcame three errors to earn the series split. B-B-E played an error-free game as they move to 6-3 overall.
That's all I've got for now. I have to get to the KMGK Smooth Magic 107 FM sports banquet at Lakeside Ballroom in Glenwood!
Here's a video that's almost two weeks old...my, how time flies! That was a chilly night in Elrosa when the Jaguars beat Maple Lake...
The next game is Friday this week in Elrosa, when the Jaguars host Paynesville in a makeup game. First pitch at Saints Field is at 4:30 p.m.
UPDATE: I've got more news to post tomorrow both on this sports blog and on the newspaper website. You can see one of the awards being given tonight in the video below...
Tonight at Lakeside in Glenwood...
We had an outstanding turnout of support from the B-B-E community with coaches and family members supporting our Jaguar student-athletes who were a part of this very special occasion. Of the 13 sports banquets hosted by Smooth Magic 107, I have only missed one! Their first one was held in 2012.
