Ash Wednesday Mass...and more college news (VIDEO)
The Christian season of Lent is underway, and multiple churches across the Bonanza Valley area kicked it off with Ash Wednesday worship services tonight.
Here's a short video clip from St. Donatus Catholic Church in Brooten tonight:
The video was recorded during Communion, which was near the end of worship at St. Donatus. Ash Wednesday worship services were also held at Grace Lutheran Church in Belgrade and at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooten.
In college basketball news...
The Northland Technical and Community College Pioneers women's basketball team has earned the No. 5 seed in the NJCAA Division III National Tournament that begins on March 12 in Rochester, MN. The Pioneers (21-5) were given an At-Large bid to nationals after finishing as runners-up in the North Plains B District Tournament held this past weekend in Thief River Falls. Tiyana Schwinghammer, a B-B-E Class of 2023 graduate, is a sophomore on the Northland team. In the national tournament opener, Northland is paired up with the No. 12-seeded Montgomery County Mustangs, who are 25-2 overall. Their junior college is located in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania.
Tip-off for the national tournament opener is at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12 at the Rochester Regional Sports Center. From Jaguar Country, that's roughly a 200-mile trek. Yikes!
