A third straight fastpitch loss; baseball sweeps Cubs

Note: this blog post was updated late Wednesday night after the KMGK Sports Banquet in Glenwood with an area scoreboard.

The B-B-E Jaguars fastpitch team is in a mid-season slump after suffering their third loss in a row tonight at Upsala. The Cardinals broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the second inning with 5 runs scored.

Final: Upsala 7, B-B-E 4. After Upsala took a 7-0 lead in the bottom of the 4th, the Jaguars scored 2 runs in both the 5th and 6th innings.

Just 3 of Upsala's 7 runs scored in the 2nd and 5th innings were earned off of B-B-E starter Lydia Primus. B-B-E had 2 errors to none by the host Cardinals. Mya Worms batted 4-for-4 including one double and 2 RBI.

After losing their first 5 games of the season, Upsala now holds a 5-8 overall record; they've won 3 of their last 4 games.

The Jaguars (7-5) look to right the ship with a tough doubleheader at Kimball Area this Saturday. The first game is set for 11 a.m. at Kimball Area high school.
