Jaguars Volleyball Comes Home from Rockford With 3-0 Sweep of Rockets

The Jaguars volleyball team traveled to Rockford to open up the CMC schedule for the 2007 season and came home with 3-0 sweep over the Rockets. The Jaguars are undefeated against Rockford since the 2001 season.

The Jaguars now prepare for a tough Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted tournament on Saturday morning, beginning at 9:00. They were champions in 2003 and 2005, and runners-up in 2004 and 2006.

Around the CMC in volleyball tonight:
Eden Valley-Watkins 3, Pierz 1 (EV-W had not beaten the Pioneers in volleyball this decade until tonight)
Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted 3, Holdingford 0
Maple Lake 3, Kimball 0

The Jaguars girls tennis team defeated fellow Section 5A foe St.John's Prep at Collegeville by a score of 5-1. One of the individual matches (No.3-singles) was called due to rain. They are now 8-6 on the season.

**In football news... Good grief if Rockford isn't state-ranked in Class AAA!
They're tied at #7 with Sauk Centre and Milaca, two members of the West Central North conference. They will host our Jaguars football team on Friday night to open up the 7-game Central Minnesota Conference schedule. I am unsure exactly why they're ranked, after going 1-7 in 2006 and missing playoffs altogether. They did get a quality win against Jordan last Friday by a 30-14 score. A safe bet is that our football team will need to play a solid game in order to pick up their first win ever at Rockford.

No surprises in the Class AA poll, with Eden Valley-Watkins at #3 and Pierz at #5.

Minneota, a new member of Section 5A, is ranked #4 in Class A.
