The Norway Lake-Sunburg Lakers (12-6 league record) ended Starbuck's run in the playoffs with a 4-3 win at Willie Reigstad Park in Sunburg on Saturday afternoon. The #1-seeded Lakers trailed 3-0 but came back to win in extra innings by the final margin. The Stars had entered the Cornbelt playoffs seeded #4 with a 2-13 record, but they picked up a 7-4 win over the #3-seeded New London-Spicer Twins in their playoff opener.

Norway Lake-Sunburg will face their bitter rivals to the east, New London-Spicer, at Noon today (Sunday) in Regal.

In the other Cornbelt North elimination game yesterday, the Paynesville Pirates fell 11-8 to New London-Spicer. The Pirates were the 5-seed out of the five-team Cornbelt North League.

The Regal Eagles (14-8) are already in Region 15C, but they will host the Cornbelt North seeding game later on Sunday, taking on the winner of the earlier game. They last qualified for regions in 2004, when they made a brief 0-2 appearance.
