Elrosa Saints 10-run Spring Hill in Stearns County League North championship, gear up for Region 15C opener on Saturday, August 7

Amateur rookie Mike Whittemore got his first pitching action in the playoffs today, during a stint of relief throwing in the sixth and seventh innings.

The Elrosa Saints won for the 14th time this season with a dominating performance in the Stearns County League North division championship game today, defeating Spring Hill 11-1 in seven innings.

Out of the Cornbelt North League playoffs this weekend:

On Saturday, Norway Lake-Sunburg defeated Starbuck 4-2. Also on Saturday, Regal defeated Paynesville in an elimination game.

Starbuck defeated Regal 3-2 in the final elimination game. Tonight, Norway Lake-Sunburg beat Starbuck 12-8 in the seeding game. The Stars, who won the regular season Cornbelt North League title, are at regions for the first time since 2007.

Norway Lake-Sunburg takes an 8-10 record into Region 15C.

Up next for the Saints: the Region 15C opener on Saturday afternoon at 3:30pm (August 7) against Lake Henry, who lost 9-4 to St.Martin in the South title game today.

Region 15C amateur baseball opening day schedule:
10:30 a.m. Cornbelt North 1 vs. Stearns County North 2
1:00 p.m. Stearns County South 1 vs. Cornbelt North 2
3:30 p.m. Stearns County North 1 vs. Stearns County South 2.

Other games will be August 8, 14, and 15.
