Jaguars girls tennis drops a tough battle with MACCRAY - Jaguars Volleyball sweeps HL-W-W

High five in doubles action tonight.

The Jaguars girls tennis team will have to wait until next week to get their sixth win of the season, as they dropped a non-conference dual match to the MACCRAY Wolverines today on the home courts.

Coach Westrom employed a revamped lineup in order to have a better effort against the Wolverines, who defeated the Jaguars on August 30 by a 5-2 score. Even though the Jaguars hustled and gave a great effort, the outcome was the same tonight.

Up next for the Jaguars girls tennis team: on Monday the Jaguars face Parkers Prairie in a Prairie Conference match.

An update from Howard Lake... the Jaguars volleyball team took the first game in tonight's conference match against Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted 25-17. The Jaguars won game two 25-8! Game three went to the Jaguars as expected, by a comfortable 25-12 margin. They improve to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the Central Minnesota Conference.

HL-W-W is 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the CMC.

You wanna hear some kind of crazy? Tonight at the High School football field, the Jaguars 9th grade football team battled to a 6-6 tie with neighboring rival New London-Spicer. During the girls tennis match I visited briefly with Coach Paul Rooney, who leads the 9th grade and JV teams with Shane Radermacher. While I arrived too late to get some pictures of the game, which made me quite upset with myself, I was happy to find out that the Jaguars defense actually skunked the NL-S offense for all four quarters of play. NL-S scored their touchdown via special team, on the opening kickoff.

Not too shabby, considering that NL-S brought 36 players to town, while the Jaguars dressed 15 freshmen for the game.
