Elrosa Saints' bid for state falls short today in loss to Spring Hill
Below, a rough clip during Matt Middendorf's three-RBI home run in the third inning today against Spring Hill. (yeh the clip is bad but I got some nice still shots at the same time as shooting the video...)
The Elrosa Saints lost 13-3 today in seven innings to Spring Hill in the final playback game of the Region 15C tournament today in Spicer. After falling into an 8-0 hole in the first inning, the Saints scored three runs of their own in the third frame on Matt Middendorf's three run home run on no outs. That was all they got, though, in the shortened-inning loss.
The Saints finished the year 11-10 overall as the third best team in the 16-team region.
Spring Hill went on to lose 5-2 to Lake Henry in the region championship game. The Lakers drafted Brad Mergen of Farming, while the Chargers drafted Elrosa's Ethan Vogt.
**Lake Henry opens the state tournament at 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 20 at Glencoe. The Chargers play at the same location on the same day at 7:30 p.m.
Below, the Elrosa Saints are on the field warming up for their game on Saturday against Norway Lake-Sunburg...
