Final score: B-B-E 64, Battle Lake 60. The Battlers trailed 61-55 with 68 seconds left before making it a one-point game, down 61-60, with 48 seconds left. There was no upset tonight, though, and no late comeback by the Battlers...unlike 7 years ago when Battle Lake overcame a 9-point 4th-quarter deficit to spell the Jaguars 58-56 in the 2005 Section 5A championship game. The Jaguars now gear up for the Section 6A championship, which will be held at 7:00pm on Friday night at Concordia-Moorhead. Their opponent will be Ada-Borup, who last made it to state in 2009 and defeated Ulen-Hitterdal 64-42 tonight to win the Sub-Section 6A-North crown.
Much, much more on Ada-Borup will be posted over the next couple of days. The Cougars were the #1-seed in Sub-Section 6A-North; they hold a 22-5 overall record and were ranked #25 in the most recent QRF rankings on minnesota-scores.net.
**Breaking news...it was just announced by B-B-E fans that Friday night's section championship game will be a "White Out" for Jaguar fans. Get ready!
Here's some scenes from the second half tonight...with 3:28 left and both teams in a timeout. B-B-E 57, Battle Lake 49.
