Class A state wrestling update from Xcel Energy Center

In the Class A quarterfinal round, the following results were turned in this morning:
#2-seed Kimball Area 55, Barnesville 9.
#3-seed Minneota 44, Zumbrota-Mazzepa 23
#1-seed Jackson County Central 52, Pierz 15
#4-seed Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial 39, Badger/Greenbush-Middle River 30

At 1 p.m., Kimball and Minneota square off in one semifinal match, while JCC and BGMR are in the other semi.

The individual round of 'state' wrestling begins at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Xcel. The B-B-E Jaguars have three juniors competing.

**Update at 18:00 hours...the Kimball Area Cubs advanced to the state championship match with a 35-33 win over #2-seed Minneota.

**Update at 22:00 hours...Kimball Area finished as Class A state runners-up for the second year in a row. They lost in the title match 35-28 to #1-seed Jackson County Central.

Pierz, the Section 7A champion, lost out in their consolation semifinal match 35-34, while Section 3A champion Minneota ended up winning the third-place match.
