If there was a wrestling match to get "up" for, it's coming tonight to the B-B-E high school.
Tonight the Jaguars wrestling team (2-0) host section and neighboring rival Paynesville Area (4-1) in a non-conference meet with JV action beginning at 5:30pm. The Bulldogs have put together an impressive early-season resume, having picked up dual wins over state-ranked LPQV/D-B and Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta/Hancock. Both are Class AA schools, while Paynesville Area and B-B-E compete in Class A for postseason honors.
Oh, and by the way, it's also Parents Night where the team will honor those who make it all happen - Mom & Dad.
This is a huge meet, as the winner gets the inside track on a better playoff ranking in Section 5A. Both teams have been spoken of as contenders for the section championship.
In the 25-year history of B-B-E Jaguar athletics, I do not have record of the Jaguars beating the Bulldogs on the wrestling mats. I hope that changes tonight!
A youth elementary wrestling dual meet takes place with somewhere around 12 matches taking place starting at 5:30pm. This is a neat way for B-B-E and Paynesville elementary wrestlers to get some nice exposure of their skills and talents. The JV match follows that, and the varsity match will most likely begin around 7:30pm.
