Girls' basketball final score: B-B-E 48, Melrose Area 42
The Jaguars stand at attention during the National Anthem, with the B-B-E Pep Band to their left performing. |
In the background (not seen in the photo), B-B-E Coach Anderson stood with her head bowed and eyes closed. She had to be feeling a full range of emotions with what she was about to experience.
Add to it the fact that it was only her fourth game ever in her life that she's been a head basketball coach. She did an amazing job! Great job, Jaguars!
Just realized this: both head coaches wore a remote microphone on their body that sent everything they were saying to the WCCO camera crew. They did this for the purpose of providing excellent, top-notch audio for the WCCO news broadcast tonight. Again, another huge distraction from the game but quite an honor that they could bring this level of coverage to B-B-E and Melrose.
Eight Jaguars scored tonight in the win; as a team, B-B-E hit 20 field goals compared to only 12 by the Dutchmen. B-B-E was 6-for-13 on the free throw line, while Melrose Area was 17-for-29 at the line.
