Just a little bit excited for tonight

Tia Halvorson and Becca Gruber put up a block to deflect an NL-S attack during the Jaguars' 3-0 win at NL-S in 2011.

It's Border Battle time! I hope you've made plans to get to New London-Spicer high school tonight, where the Jaguars volleyball team looks to beat a very talented Wildcats team.

In their last trip to NL-S in 2011, the Jaguars were not really tested against a 1-2 Wildcats team on September 12. Just coming off a good weekend in Marshall, the Jaguars won 25-22, 25-14, 25-14 to improve to 7-2. NL-S was on their way to a 9-18-1 finish (4-6 West Central Conf. North).

Last year the Wildcats had a 7-8 record when the two teams met on September 25 on our floor. It turned into a wild, barn burner match when the Wildcats took a 2-1 lead in games to push the Jaguars to the limit. B-B-E coasted in the last two games 25-6, 15-4 to end the drama. NL-S finished 12-16 overall and 2-8 in the WCC.

This year's meeting will be an even tougher battle, as the Wildcats are 10-4 already with a 3-2 mark (3-way tie for 5th) in the very tough Wright County Conference.

They could meet again this Saturday at the Willmar Tournament. Uuf Da!
