What a night for the Irish football program, as I believe this is their first-ever win in the state football tournament: 28-10 over a 9-2 Pine Island team in the Class AA state quarterfinals. Not too shabby for a 4th-place team in the CMC.
Proctor's 19-6 win over Pierz takes a little of the luster off of my celebration but we'll have to see what Proctor does next week to see how things shake out in Class AAA.
Holdingford and Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity play tomorrow at 1:00pm and 3:00pm, respectively.
At today's Class A state volleyball tournament, Nevis ended Ada-Borup's season in dramatic fashion in the consolation semifinals. Game scores were 25-22, 25-20, 18-25, 18-25, 17-15. The Tigers play Martin County West in the consolation championship tomorrow.
Maple Lake's volleyball team was swept out of the tournament in the Class AA consolation semifinals by game scores of 25-19, 27-25, 25-15 by Dassel-Cokato.
