The U.S. National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Warning, which is in effect until noon on Tuesday (12/24). Wind chill values are expected to reach 35 below to 45 below zero. A wind chill warning means the combination of very cold air and strong winds will create dangerously low wind chill values. If you plan to travel, have weather emergency supplies in your vehicle.
I hope area youth who are avid snowmobilers make smart decisions today and limit their time outside on their sleds and definitely stay close to home if they decide to go out for a spin.
The temperature in Brooten was -17 at 7:00am and then dropped to -18 at 9:00am. A half hour later the mercury had climbed to -15.
