Jaguar basketball heating up the evening!

With temperatures outside hovering around 15 below zero and dropping, pregame drills are underway in Paynesville tonight. For the B-squad boys' basketball Jaguars, the game didn't go their way in the last 5 minutes of regulation play.

In the C-squad game down the hall at PHS, the Jaguars trailed 25-21 at halftime but fought back and had the game tied 45-45 heading into the closing minute. With About 65 seconds left, the Bulldogs scored for a 47-45 lead. That was the end of scoring in the game won by the host Bulldogs, with the Jaguars missing at least a couple free throws in the last minute.

Up in the far northeast corner of Grant County, the Jaguars girls' basketball team is gearing up for a non-conference game against the Ashby Arrows. In the B-squad game, the Jaguars picked up a nice 43-27 win to improve to 5-2 on the season with their 3rd straight win.

**Halftime in Paynesville: B-B-E 46, Bulldogs 21. The Jaguars could do no wrong for the game's first 10 minutes and led 29-2 with 8:24 left on a baseline shot by James Kuefler.

At Ashby, the Jaguars girls' basketball team is ahead 21-19.
