Jaguars are state-final bound!!!

The exciting, thrilling, emotion-filled playoff run continues for the Jaguars boys' basketball team!

Today in the Class A semifinals, the Jaguars defeated an outstanding, high-scoring, high-flying, hard-charging Fond du Lac team by a 76-58 score at Target Center. The Ojibwe had 22 turnovers in the game compared to 13 for the Jaguars. Each team finished with 7 steals, and the Jaguars outrebounded FDL 48-39. The Jaguars made 29 field goals on 70 attempts; the Ojibwe went 21-for 62 from the floor.

One has to tip their hat to the effort and determination displayed by Fond du Lac's players today. They were physically outmatched at nearly every position yet gave everything they had and then some while making our Jaguars work for the win.

Here's Coach Montbriand visiting with the West Central Tribune's Tom Larson after today's game:

With a 30-1 record, the Jaguars face either Rushford-Peterson or Maranatha Christian in the state finals. The state finals will be held at 12:00pm noon on Saturday, March 14 at Target Center. **Update: at halftime, Rushford-Peterson (#3 seed) is leading #2-seeded Maranatha Christian Academy 29-19.  **Update: with 11:25 left in the game, R-P is up 39-35.

I'm with the B-B-E pep band...just getting off I-94 at Monticello to grab lunch. More to come later.

**Update: the Jaguars will face Rushford-Peterson in the state championship game. R-P survived a strong rally by Maranatha to post a 53-51 win in the other semifinal game.
